National Quality Foundation

NATIONAL QUALITY AWARD - LEADERSHIP SYSTEM

The national quality award was established in 1992 and seeks to promote understanding of the requirements to achieve excellence in performance and the exchange of information on management methods and systems.Administered by the NATIONAL QUALITY FOUNDATION), instituted in 1991 by 39 public organizations and private, the PNQ emerged from the effort of a group of professionals from the industrial, consulting and academic areas who have done several studies in the management area.

The PNQ is given to the company that obtains the best evaluation in eight criteria, as I will explain below:

1-LEADERSHIP.

2-STRATEGIES AND PLANS

3-CUSTOMERS

4-SOCIETY

5-INFORMATION AND KNOWLEDGE.

6 PEOPLES

7-PROCESSES

8-RESULTS

These criteria show what an organization must do to be successful in the pursuit of excellence in performance. Even not competing for the PNQ, any organization can seek to define its own strategies and management processes based on excellence criteria.

The PNQ model is flexible and adaptable to any field of activity, in addition the criteria can be adopted by organizations that intend to carry out a self-assessment and measure their performance, enabling the identification of their strengths and main opportunities for improvement.

Another important feature of the PNQ is the set of excellence foundations that permeate the eight criteria. These foundations express internationally recognized concepts and translate into practices found in world-class leading organizations.

They are organizational values that are easily perceived as part of an organizational culture and are practiced by leaders and professionals at all levels.

Having identified these values, the following were considered fundamentals to form a results-oriented management culture and to be competitive in the market:

1-Systems Thinking

2-Organizational learning

3-Culture of Innovation

4-Leadership and constancy of purpose

5-Process and information orientation

6-vision of the future

7-value generation

8-appreciation of people

9-knowledge about the customer and the market

10-partnership development

11-social responsibility
